None come with cables, except maybe one set of red, white, & yellow analog. Probably wouldn't use those anyway. I also explained that most of them don't come with enough inputs. That's why I recommend Onkyo for this type of system. Because they do. Did you read all the posts, or just the first one? If you're going to reply, please read all the posts, so you don't repeat what's already been said. If someone else has said it already, you can say you agree with them.

I haven't heard them personally, but I'd probably upgrade them after awhile. Remember I said that the companies can't afford to give GOOD speakers, at an HTIB price? Good speakers are going to be a minimum of $1000, in my opinion. But they will last for many, many years. Longer than the rest of the equipment.

$900 is Onkyo's price. You can probably buy it from Amazon.com cheaper. Just make sure who you buy it from is a factory authorized dealer, or else you'll have no warranty.

Re: Home theatre in a box

Yes, most HTIBs don't have enough inputs for the average person, and they don't know this until they get it home and set up. Some have no inputs at all.

The exceptions to this rule are the Onkyo HTIBs. They include a real receiver in their HTIBs, that has plenty of inputs and features. The minimum model I'd get from them would be the HT-S5300, because it includes a powered subwoofer, which is easier to upgrade, when funds allow. A lot of people like the HT-S3300 too, but it includes a passive subwoofer, which isn't as upgradable.

The weak link to any HTIB is the speakers and sub. They just can't give you good speakers and sub, at an HTIB price point. Again, Onkyo speakers are a little better than other HTIB speakers, IMHO. Since speakers are the most important part of any system, it's advised to upgrade from HTIB speakers, to good speakers, as soon as possible.

Home theatre in a box

I keep hearing about HTIAB but opinions seem divided. Is it true that the opportunities for adding to a theatre in a box product are more limited than buying a system piece by piece?
