Just found a link (which I still can't post) .... but it's turnmeup.org .... there's a whole movement to improve audio quality on CD. I have to say, it did make a difference when I listened to Elbow... not sure how many other big(ish) bands are doing it.

But...... you still can't beat Vinyl

You can get a better sound from a CD if recorded right. - although not as good as Vinyl
The Elbow album, Seldom Seen Kid was recorded on a lower volume to give a higher quality audio..... only issue with it is you have to turn the stereo up!

VinylVenue There are some digital products that have been produced to try and reproduce the analog sound. I think DVD Audio is one of them. They use a combination of digital then some software to produce analog waves. I can't post any links as I'm a newbie ... but search for DVD-A or DVD-Audio

PETER.PHIL Usually, I go to a local record shop to get the inner sleeves...This online resource might help.

molla I think it is only certain "modern" music that you can get on vinyl these days. As for media formats I think FLAC is near perfect sound quality, it would be something to look into if you are after the best quality of music.

AudioJames Most albums do still come out with vinyl recordings depending on where you look, they are usually more expensive than the CD's and are "collectors" items. Take a look around Amazon and Google to see if you can turn anything up.

As good as vinyl?

So arguably vinyl records have the best sound quality out of all recorded music, I was wondering if there is a digital alternative that has the same quality and richness of sound as a record?
