HDTV is a new type of television that provides much better resolution than current televisions based on the NTSC standard. Early HDTV broadcasting used analog techniques, but today HDTV is digitally broadcast using video compression. I love it.

Well you could be totally ignorant of outside facts and buy what ever is the first thing you see, but if you don't want to waste your money some research is always advised, impulse buy's never end up being a good idea.

Oh, I hadn't thought about reflective screens, I don't want one of them. Thank you for your advice, I think a trip to a local electrical store is in order.
So I have to look for non reflective screens and be aware of the budget. Who would think there is so much to take into consideration, just to watch the TV?

You also have to take into consideration if you are on a budget what's on sale, since you can go and spend 300 bucks for a tv or 1000 grand, This is the kind of thing you need to put in some leg work tho since you can't really judge there picture quality on your pc screen.

That's a matter of personal preference. I like the DLP tvs. You get more screen size for your money, and the picture has more of a film look to it. I think LCD and plasma tvs look more like video than film. Plasmas and most LCDs also have very reflective screens, which I hate. Just go look at all the different kinds, and see which you like best. Afterall, it's you who will be watching it.
Good luck!

'Bugatti to a Smart' lol what a great analogy. You are beginning to convince me. I think I will go take a look and stand corrected. Is there a 'best' model of TV for viewing HD?

I mostly watch blue rays and play games, but comparing a resolution of 1920x1080 to the 400X300 standard that regular tv's have is like, comparing a Bugatti to a Smart. The difference in image quality is surmountable and to the best of my knowledge if you have cable you also get hd.

Just walk into a store and see the HD tv's in their native resolution you'll change your mind quite quickly also it's not about being able to see the pores, it's about having a sharp image that is closer to what you see in the real world.
