MP3, being an audio specific format, cannot compress videos. It is to audio. Whereas MP4 is a file format used to compress video files.

While movie access may be a useful feature for long bus or car journeys I think the major difference touted by the manufacturers relates to sound quality. If you look at the Apple MP4 it is presented as a product with better sound compression technology than the MP3 version. In reality the average consumer probably can't tell the difference.
The cynical amongst us may wonder if the change up is related more to controlling file sharing than anything else!

I'm thinking that that's what the difference is. An added feature. Personally, I don't see the point in trying to watch a movie that way. Seems like it would be too much of a hassle.

MP3 versus MP4
My cousin is very fond of having new gadgets. She has an MP3 already and is now wanting an MP4. What is the real difference between an MP3 player and an MP4 player? What I know is that MP4 can play movies.
