Case for amp I'm getting upgraded:

The amp is finished and on it's way to me.

puts out about 20 watts per channel [ two channel ].

Stephen Mantz is going through the amplifier and upgrading it
The biggest tube is history [ removed ], new circuit was run.{ for rectification }

The 5AR4, [rectifier],is used for rectifying and it also controls the power to the B+rails, this one was removed and a solid state circuit replaced it.

ZedAudio immediate impression

1) Change ALL resistors to metal film types where appropriate and others to carbon film.
2) If you plan to use the phono input upgrade this stage with total new circuits.
3) Replace all film and electrolytic capacitors - period.
4) I would dispense with the tube rectifier as it places a total limitation on how much capacitance you can put on the B+ rails.
5) If 4) done above add a slow start circuit for the amplifier.
6) All low level tubes convert their heater supplies to DC
7) Change potentiometers where possible
8) Replace all RCA and speaker connectors
9) Check all tube sockets and replace if needed

He added an additional test circuit for biasing the valves as they age.
