Default The problem with Bose

The most common complaint I hear about Bose is their midrange quality, or their lack thereof. But I also hear that if you put an Active Equalizer in the circuit, that will correct the problem. So, is Bose good or not?

Bose sounds ok, for what they are. They don't make a real subwoofer. They make a bass module. The biggest complaint about Bose is the price. They charge 100 times more than they are worth. They have an excellent marketing company.
No good highs, no good lows......it must be Bose!

I just read some of the article JVC linked to and it made me chuckle. The herd mentality of those who buy for brand name is a very good way to describe the way many spend their cash on any sort of entertainment system. It's a real shame that many independent retailers are being forced out of business by the one brand fits all mega stores so common here in the UK.

With Bose you are really paying for the name. Their try before you buy scheme looks good. I have been tempted in the past, however as pointed out by jvc, way over priced.
