Where do you think I can get a classic vinyl player? I helped my grandma arrange her house and we found some of the vinyl records that my grandpa had. The player is long gone but the disks are still in good shape. I want to give my grandma a vinyl player as a gift to her.
I see turntables and players on Craig's List a lot. Check them out too. You can get a Crosley at Target, Sears, Bed, Bath, & Beyond: http://www.crosleyrecordplayer.net/
Some of them will record to CD, while it's playing. You didn't say, but if these records are 78s, instead of 33 1/3 albums, you may have a harder time finding a player that plays 78s. Good luck!

I looked into Wikipedia to know what are 78s. At first I thought these are records that were done in 1978. My grandfather has 33 1/2 albums so I guess I won't have any problems finding the right turntable. About the 78s, they look cool to collect.
If you record on a computer you can record 78's in at 33.333 and time compress them, there are actual advantages to this because it raises the pitch of the clicks and pops to a point where you can use a sharp LPF to knock them down considerably in level.
Chad, are you saying that I can record my records on my computer and burn them on a disc? If so, could you put up a link detailing that please? That sounds like something I REALLY would like to do.
And Nigel, dude, "I looked into Wikipedia to know what are 78s. At first I thought these are records that were done in 1978." Thank you. I REALLY needed that laugh right now. I wasn't laughing AT you, I was laughing WITH you. There are some things I don't know about computers that, if I were to ask, would make other people laugh too.
I'd also like to know more about being able to transfer my vinyl music onto the PC and then back to disc. I do have a player but I live in fear of damage to the records themselves. Right now I tend to play them only when alone.
Ion turntables have USB, so they can be connected to your PC. Once on the PC, you can clean the pops and hiss off the track, and record to cd. It works pretty good. A friend of mine has one of the early models. http://www.ionaudio.com/turntables Bed, Bath, and Beyond usually sells one of the models of Ion, believe it or not. The Crosley I linked to earlier, lets you record album to cd. There's several ways to do it.
