There are two reasons for the increased power usage of 3D Television sets. 3D requires a brighter image because each side of the active shutter glasses is blocked part of the time. In addition, the tint of the glasses causes further light loss, for which the set must compensate with higher brightness.
I've heard a lot of people swear by this technology because it also produces superior sound. But it obviously comes at a price. Would let let this deter you from buying 3D aan/or Plasma?
