Default Best headphones brand?

Let's take the mid range market, anything that costs over 200 dollars is disqualified. I found that Sony has some nice offerings in this price range, with Sennheiser being a nice alternative if you prefer something else.

I can't speak on there howl product line, but so far I have been quite happy with my Bose headphones, but in my opinion every brand has a at least one bad product and most people judge them on that.

I would second Sony, I think they have some excellent headphones for the amount of money they cost! I used to have some Sony headphones a few years ago and they were my absolute favorite.

I myself am quite happy with Sennheiser products, the sound quality is okay the price is low and for what and as often as I use them they perform quite well.

If going by brand alone, I would say that Sennheiser has the best overall product based on my readings. They always seem to be mentioned in the top 5 of any headphone category. Depending on what you are looking for, they may not be the best, but they are almost always a good choice. Sony's full-size offerings are well received, too.

To contrast that, the Monster headphones are probably the most over-priced with Bose being a close second. Bose is still the champion of active noise cancelling though.

From what I've read, stay away from anything in the sub-$50 market if you're looking for a serious set of headphones. Definitely research any headphone you're interested in to see what people think about it. I did this before I snatched up a used pair of Audio-Technica ATH-A700s and now I have the bug. Be sure to consider what you want (i.e. pronounced bass, accuracy, sound stage, etc.) and listen to as many kinds as you can if possible. I took a leap of faith, and am happy with my A700s. Good luck!

I love Sony. I have a pair of headphones from Sony and they're great. Sony is the leading brand in the headphone market. It covers all categories, with prices ranging from very low to very high.

Probably Sennheiser because they made one of the best electrostatic headphones but also some of the best dynamic.

If you were to buy a new set right now, which one would it be?
