![]() At first glance, the new Triton Two speakers from GoldenEar Technology might seem familiar, even if the company name is not. The speakers are tall and slim, mostly covered in a black grill, and use active woofers augmented with passive radiators. If The Triton Twos seem like something Definitive Technology would make, that's no coincidence. GoldenEar Technology is a new company created by Definitive Tech founers Sandy Gross and Don Givogue. [more] The Triton Two speakers borrow some design inspiration from the Definitive BP and Mythos series, and advance the concept further. The slim, tapered cabinet houses a GoldenEar designed 1200 watt DSP controlled digital amp which drives two 5"x9" subwoofers, with side-mounted 7"x10" radiators providing enhanced bass response. In between the two 4.5" midrange drivers is the big story - a proprietary High Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeter. Frequency response is rated at 16Hz - 35kHz, though in typical Definitive Tech style, the lower number represents the absolute limits of response, rather than usable in-room bass response. The GoldenEar Technology Triton Two speakers are priced at $1,249.99/ea. |
