Seriously, Wasn't One T15K Enough?

I guess not. Steve Meade has designed another car audio system in an attempt to outdo the previous one that made a woman's fake eye pop out and small children run away in terror. If you aren't familiar with the amplifiers he is using, they are Rockford Fosgate T15K's (MSRP of $50,000 for the pair) that can put out more than 30,000 watts. Attach those two monsters to eight Fi BTL 18" subs and you have yourself a portable earthquake machine.

How is this more impressive than the guy that put up 180.5db from a single sub? It's just a weaker design if it's purely set-up for SPL. Unless, of course, he's well over 180dbs...then that's different. But I doubt those guys would be standing there listening to the system w/o hearing protection at those levels.

From what I have read, the type of installs that Steve Meade does aren't purely for SPL in the competition sense. More just shock value that scares the hell out of people. Alan Dante's car that did the 180.5 can't even drive on the street. I think he said it weighs something crazy like 10,000+ lbs. and has to be trailered everywhere.

Pure SPL cars are sometimes filled with cement to reduce flex, they have doors bolted closed and sealed and or welded. Those are cars that are really not cars any more, more just a solid box on wheels.

What Steve Mead does is amazing. that much output and Quality (its not just a spl monster) in a "normal" vehicle. I am not sure if it was the best decision to use 2 of those, as you could get away with a bunch smaller physical sized amps and get the same output. I bet he got those for free or below cost, He is great advertising.

I remember this thread a while back. I wouldn't mind having such change to throw around. =(

Ok, that clears it up for me. It's not an SPL only machine, but look at the rear...it appears to be a wall of woofers made out of what looks to be concrete? And the name Chicken....that for some reason reminds me of that Escalade truck SM did...is this the same tattoo'd customer? He must be friggin' loaded! Does SM work for RF?

i dont care what anyone says bout SM's shit...it is by far the most badass system i have seen.i live in houston tx. so thats kind of a big statement considering some of the systems people here have.and yeah maybe SM could have used a bunch of smaller amps to get the same amount of output but why fuck with all that?thats a fuck load of wire.and from what i have seen its not all about SPL with SM.its about sound quality too.
