"Monster Teams Up with Dr. Dre and Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine to Design State-of-the-Art 'Beats' Headphones Engineered to Accurately Reproduce the Best of Today’s Pop Music"

Let me get this straight, Monster Cable and Dr. Dre teamed up to "engineer" a pair of headphones so they accurately reproduce today's shitty pop-music?

This is an actual quote from the press release:
"“When I’m making a track I’m trying to capture the sound that makes me go ‘now THAT’s the shit!"
- Dr. Dre

With a retail price of $399.95, there better be a half-ounce of something green hidden in the earpads.

Thanks to Kenneth for the tip.

So basically they're just going to be able to pump out bass like it's going out of style.

/and be blingy, very very blingy

Now why haven't the engineers at Sennheiser, Beyer, AKG, STAX, etc. sought out the "expertise" of Dr. Dre and a chairman at Interscope records to help them design true reference grade headphones? How much better could the K1000s or Orpheus have been if they'd had Dre's help? Anyway, chances are Monster Cable didn't design anything, they just bought these from some OEM, they do have a habit of doing that.

I predict these will go over about as well in the market as their "Sigma Retro" cables.
