Alpine’s IMPRINT technology is a head unit and sound processor combination that’s based on Audyssey Labs MultEQ technology. The system overcomes a vehicle’s inherent acoustical problems by adjusting both a signal’s frequency and time domain information to achieve better tonal balance and a more accurate sound stage. The system is comprised of the CDA-9887 head unit and the KTX-100EQ sound processor.

The CDA-9887 features all the usual features found in modern head units such as iPod control, Bluetooth capabilities, and satellite radio hookup. However, the star here is the KTX-100EQ, which includes the IMPRINT calibration software, an interface controller and a microphone. Basically, the IMPRINT system records audio samples in your vehicle and then creates a custom equalization profile that overcomes your car’s particular acoustical challenges. The CDA-9887 and KTX-100EQ are available now with price tags of $450 and $250, respectively.
