German speaker manufacturer, Canton, revealed this year that their LE Series will be replaced entirely by the new GLE Series of loudspeakers. The GLE's are said to be an evolution of the originals but also integrate designs and materials from their Vento, Ergo and Karat speakers. The most significant improvement found in the new speakers are the drivers. The GLE speakers feature aluminum bass and midrange cones as the old LE's used polypropylene cones. Also, to compliment these heavier cones, the GLE speakers are driven by upgraded motors with more power than the previous.

The new line consists of two floorstanders, a center channel, two bookshelves, and one on-wall set. The GLE 409 is the 3-way floorstander with a low end of 40Hz and is rated at 320 watts with music, it goes for $1299/pr. The 2-1/2-way floorstander is the GLE 407 that is rated at 170 watts with music and a low frequency extension of 41Hz, $999/pr. The GLE 405 CM Center Channel is 2-1/2 way and has a range of 73Hz-23Hz, it goes for $449/e. The GLE 403 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker that is rated at 140 watts with music and plays down to 54Hz, $599/pr. The GLE 402 is also a 2-way bookshelf and is rated at 130 watts with music and is -3dB at 60Hz, it retails for $449/pr. The on-wall is also a 2-way speaker rated at 100 watts with music and LFE down to 90Hz. All speakers are claimed to play up to 30kHz (+/- 6dB), and it appears that they are available in 4 or 8 ohm models.
