Sonus Faber's Affordable Solution to Homage

July 13, 2007 by JD Mattioli

Sonus Faber's latest speaker is a part of their Cremona line and is called the Elipsa. Modeled after the highly regarded Stradivari Homage (also made by Sonus faber), the Elipsa is one driver short of the company's top-of-the-line and lives is a much different price range. The Elipsa retails for $20,000 dollars per pair, which is merely half the cost of the Stradivari. The Elipsa is a three-way ported speaker whose cabinet is made of 20 wood layers and solid maple. The drivers include a 1-inch tweeter, a 6-inch fiber midrange cone and, a 10-inch lightweight aluminum/magnesium alloy cone woofer. The speakers handle between 50 and 300 watts at 4 ohms with crossover points 250Hz-2300Hz and a frequency response of 35Hz-30kHz.
