Wisdom's New Brain Much Wiser Than Old

July 5, 2007 by JD Mattioli

Wisdom Audio announced this June that their new analog brain is now available. The DCAB-1 is said to be a noticeable difference from their original brain; the new piece uses a PC-based interface and room analyzer as well as a greater array of filters to start. The interface, RS-232, decreases the limitations for the calibration process by syncing up with the computer which is used for the crossover and equalizer functions.

The filters in the new brain are not only more plentiful, but more effective as well, according to the product user guide. Any frequency in the relevant range (20Hz to 20kHz) can be reached by the new filters, something that was not achievable in the previous model. The DCAB-1 also comes with a bidirectional remote control that communicates with the brain both ways and displays changes on its miniature screen.
