AOL Pumps New Life into SHOUTcast

October 10, 2008 by Dave Kay

AOL recently launched a new version of SHOUTcast, the popular internet radio network. Originally launched back in 1999, the SHOUTcast network now includes over 25,000 stations, and attracts an average daily audience of over 500,000. The new SHOUTcast includes a new design, updated search functionality, improved quality, new user feedback options, and of course, increased possibilities for advertisers.

The relaunch is claimed to be the first step in a series of planned improvements to the system. SHOUTcast can be integrated with Facebook as well as a variety of other social networking sites using a widget, and is designed to work with its sister product Winamp, as well as a variety of other media players and hardware devices.
