The latest large portable media player from Cowon is called the P5. Like Cowon's previous Q5W, the P5 uses a 5" touch screen and runs the Windows CE operating system. It's powered by a 700MHz RMI Alchemy AU1250 processor with 128Mb of RAM, and will be available in either 40GB, 60GB, or 80GB versions. Cowon redesigned their skinned interface for the P5, and added a new touch feedback system. Features include Bluetooth with A2DP, an FM radio, component, composite, and S-Video outputs, and stereo speakers. An optional external Wi-Fi dongle will allow for internet browsing.

Cowon seems determined to support just about every codec under the sun, and the P5 definitely doesn't disappoint in this regard. Available audio formats include MP3, WMA, ASF, OGG, WAV, FLAC, APE, and Musepack, with AVI, ASF, WMV, MPG, OGM, DivX, Xvid, MPEG4, and WMV9 available for video, and JPG, BMP, PNG, and even RAW support available for photos. Rated battery life is 9hrs for video, and 14hrs for audio. The P5 will be available in silver, red, and black by the end of July in Korea, priced at around $430. No word yet on if/when it will hit the states.
