There are lots of awesome Japanese gadgets that never make it to the US, but the newly available SEP-30BT Sony Rolly probably should've stayed home. The Rolly is an MP3 player/robot that flaps its little appendages, flashes lights, and spins and rolls to music played from its internal speakers. It comes with three pre-choreographed songs, Also"Sprach Zarathustra", Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" and Earth Wind and Fire's "Boogie Wonderland" (wow). Additional music can be loaded on to the 2GB of memory via USB or Bluetooth, and the PC software can be used to automatically or manually create dance routines. Unfortunately, the Rolly has no headphone jack or conventional controls - you have to move it around or turn one of its wheels to adjust the volume or change tracks. It also costs $400.

Hey now, "Boogie Wonderland" is a good song!

But back OT, the gaget isn't really worth $400. Maybe $40, but not $400.
