Cinepro EHX Demo Room Had Gunshots So Real The Police Were Called

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Cinepro home theater demo room in Orlando at the EHX 2008 show was absolutely insane. The owners of Cinepro (Mike and Gus) told us going into the demo room that this would be a bit more intense than their demo room at last year's Home Entertainment Show. I thought that room was great and I was a bit unsure how they planned on outdoing themselves.




Well rest assured when Gus said the gunshots were going to be "realistic," he wasn't playing around. The most impressive part of the whole setup was the accuracy to what one would assume the scene would sound like in the real world. The demo was of the movie Mr. Brooks and the scene took place in an apartment hallway with Demi Moore locked and loaded. The vocals sounded normal and didn't give any hint as to what was to come when the gunshots began. The first gunshot scared the shit out of every single person in the room because it sounded real. I've been around guns my whole life and never heard an acoustically reproduced gunshot come even close to the real thing. I found myself cringing in anticipation of the next round being fired off just as one would do shooting without wearing hearing protection.



I just found out about the security guard calling the cops on Cinepro, but it doesn't surprise me one bit. I have to admit if cops busted into the room with guns drawn during the demo of a shootout scene, that would have been the best demo ever. Expect to see the Cinepro guys at next year's EHX show with a Police escort.
