RIAA Shows Terrorists, Murderers and Drug Dealers Who's Boss By Destroying CD's

The image above shows some of the aftermath of the RIAA's show of force by destroying "$20 million" worth of pirated CD's and DVD's.
According to Wired, the Atlanta Police Department had confiscated more than 1 million pirated CD's and DVD's from street vendors. An executive for the RIA was quoted as saying, "individuals selling CDs for cheap on the street corner are not just small-time peddlers -- they are fronts for larger criminal organizations that steal music by the millions of CDs."
I just hope they caught some terrorists, murderers and drug dealers in the process. Those pirates are a rowdy bunch.

If the quality is up to par RIAA should have just sold them and donated the money to charity. Plastic takes forever to biodegrade. Its earth day save the planet.

What were they doing to do with the confiscated material?
Resell it?
The RIAA makes me chuckle.

onebadmonte: They couldn't do that, as it would refute their ever so popular "pirated music sounds SOOOO bad it's not even listen-to-able by the average person" argument.

Damnit, they never stop do they? The pathetic part is that they think they're doing it "for the greater good." All they're doing is pissing people off enough so they come up with new / better ways to get around the RIAA even more.
It's all about the RIAA's greed...and Greed is a stinky cologne.
Because today's society is ridden with people suing for anything because their pathetic lives leave a lot to be desired, everyone including RIAA is chomping at the bit to take someone to court because they feel they are entitled to something. I hope RIAA feels empowered by now.
This is no different than making a tape for someone back in the day. The only difference now is because of the internet, sharing has become a LOT bigger.
Anyway, /rant.
PS: I'll send someone a pair of Peerless 811434 tweeters if they can name the movie I got the quote from in the first paragraph. :)

It was Fight Club. I gave this site a good 45 minute jump before I posted it anywhere else. I went to DIYMA and gave DIYMA an hour start over my forum. cjj2d on our forum guessed it about 30 mintues ago. :)
