Velumnatics AudioPhlow 420 - $2940 Mini-jack to RCA Cable
Filed under: Portable Audio > Accessories
Grahm Skee of Anythingbutipod.com has posted an article about a mini-jack to RCA "Y" cable costing $2940 - the Velumnatics AudioPhlow 420. The AudioPhlow features "a newly developed technology that allows elections to be evenly distributed on the contacts," dielectrics from a German aerospace firm called Gaurdenhose Polyimeplastic which are impregnated with "audiophile particles," and a denatured H20 center core which allows the 24 AWG conductors to "swim."
Before you start sending your hate mail to Velumnatics, read the rest of the article after the jump.
The article was posted on April 1st, and Velumnatics is a made up company. The "AudioPhlow 420" takes some shots at the marketing departments of brands like Virtual Dynamics and MIT; it's even claimed to be "kitten attack proof." The sad thing is that it's really only the electrical tape and lack of a label that give the AudioPhlow away as a fake. Replace the tape with heat shrink tubing, put a Velumnatics label on there, maybe replace those cheap looking RCA connectors with Bullet Plugs or Xhadows, and I could easily see this thing going for $3000.

I know we are a couple weeks late getting this one up and it is my fault. It's still funny stuff though.

Yikes. Well, if someone wants to pay $3,000 for a cable to be used with their $300 iPod, I have a $3,000,000 dollar couch for their $300,000 home. Or how about a $10,000 remote for their $1,000 TV.

LOL
Wow I cant believe that I've been sitting on hundreds of feet of that "Gaurdenhose Polyimeplastic"... maybe it's time for me to drag them out of the shed and throw em up on eBay for all of those audiophiles!

HA that's fantastic. I'd love someone to throw those in a "comparison test" and see how they did against the expensive stuff
