Mark Schifter of AV123 has announced that the company is working on a new passive/active monitor for both professional and home use applications called the mls Reference Digital Monitor. The mls RDM is a 3-way design that uses an 8" metal cone woofer, 4" titanium cone midrange and an array of three 1" ribbon tweeters. The optional electronics module acts as a base for the speaker, and produces 150 watts of amplification for the woofer and 50 watts each for the midrange and tweeter. The module also houses a programmable DSP based active crossover and EQ that provides analog, digital, and USB inputs. The mls Reference monitor will be available "when it's done," priced at $999 per pair. The active electronics modules will cost $299/ea.
